  • What is the difference between engineered and solid reclaimed wood?

    Engineered reclaimed wood
Used for reclaimed wood doors, panels, shelves and worktops. It has a flatter, more stable construction with cleaner lines and a more contemporary appearance.

    Solid reclaimed wood
Used for reclaimed wood shelves and worktops. It can show deeper cracks, heavier weathering and more natural edge and surface movement, giving it a more aged, rustic character.

  • What should I know about solid reclaimed wood?

Our solid reclaimed wood is available in Original and Distressed character.

Original has a more balanced level of natural weathering, while Distressed can show deeper cracks, heavier weathering and more pronounced edge and surface movement.

Because these features occur naturally in the timber, individual pieces will vary. Where possible, Distressed samples will be selected to show some of this stronger character, including natural edge movement.

  • What should I know about engineered reclaimed wood?

Our engineered reclaimed wood has a flatter, more consistent construction and can be finished with applied reclaimed barn wood edging, giving the visible edge the same aged character as the reclaimed surface.

Samples are primarily intended to show the colour, finish and surface character. Where possible, when several engineered samples are ordered, we’ll include at least one piece showing the reclaimed wood edging so you can see how the finished edge looks and feels.

  • How are your reclaimed wood samples finished?

Any sample marked Unfinished is supplied in its natural state with no lacquer applied.

All other samples are protected with our clear acrylic lacquer with a very low 4% sheen, helping to preserve the natural appearance and tactile feel of the reclaimed wood while adding protection and durability.

  • What should I expect from a reclaimed wood sample?

Our samples are designed to give you a clear indication of the colour, finish, texture and overall character of the reclaimed wood before you order.

Samples are approximately 20 mm thick and are representative material swatches rather than examples of the final product thickness. As reclaimed timber is naturally individual, subtle variation in tone, grain, markings and weathering is part of the material.

  • What do I need to know about sample delivery?

Our wood samples are prepared and dispatched from our UK workshop and will usually arrive within 3–5 working days.

UK postage is included in the sample price.
