Solid reclaimed wood worktops are made from substantial reclaimed barn wood boards joined together to form the worktop. The timber is generally older, thicker and more heavily weathered, so it retains more natural grain, texture, markings and character.

Engineered reclaimed wood worktops use thinner reclaimed barn wood, often taken from original barn siding, over layers of new timber beneath. This generally creates a slightly flatter, smoother surface, which can sometimes have less texture and come from timber that is not as old or as heavily weathered as the solid wood.

Both options retain the natural variation and character of genuine reclaimed timber, but solid wood generally feels more irregular and heavily weathered, while engineered wood tends to have a cleaner, more refined appearance.

Engineered reclaimed wood worktops have a more contemporary, refined appearance, with the squarest profile, a flatter surface and generally less texture than the other options.

Original reclaimed wood worktops are made from solid reclaimed barn wood, retaining the timber’s natural weathering, grain, texture and edge movement. This gives them a more organic and rustic appearance than engineered worktops.

Distressed reclaimed wood worktops use more heavily weathered solid barn wood, selected for deeper texture, stronger natural markings and more pronounced edge weathering. Some pieces can have particularly substantial edge movement and character.

Mitred reclaimed wood worktops have the top surface carefully mitred into the edges, allowing the reclaimed grain and texture to flow continuously from the top down the sides. This creates a clean, considered edge detail while retaining the natural character of the timber.

• Slim: approximately 20 mm
• Classic: approximately 40 mm
• Chunky: approximately 60 mm

Our solid reclaimed wood worktops vary naturally, so they are offered in broader thickness profiles:

• Slim: approximately 25–40 mm
• Classic: approximately 40–50 mm
• Chunky: approximately 70–90 mm

Length and depth can be specified to the nearest millimetre within the available online size limits. As reclaimed barn wood naturally varies, exact finished thicknesses may vary slightly from piece to piece.
